No matter the company, no matter the industry, data is always a top priority. It’s key to assuring seamless day-to-day operations, understanding customer behavior and making sure inventories are at proper levels. From C-level suites to the CSR department, everyone depends on it.

Although it’s the IT department’s responsibility to ensure that data is always accessible, management may have more at stake. If their companies’ applications and data suddenly become unavailable, their core missions could be severely impacted, with customers potentially bolting en masse to competing product or service providers.

But by working closely with their IT counterparts—and stressing the need for absolute business continuity—management can avoid detrimental downtime. Recognizing that this synergy between management and IT is quickly becoming mandatory, Taiun Company Limited took calculated steps, including deploying Vision Solution’s ORION HA high-availability tool, to make sure its applications and data would be up and running within 40 minutes in the event of a system failure.

Taiun also consolidated its IT assets, moving from multiple IBM SystemÊi* servers located at its many branches to two IBM Power Systems* servers running IBM i at its primary data center (one for production and the other as a backup). This move and Taiun’s new commitment to more fully address downtime have let the company improve technical services across the board—and save money at the same time.
