The biggest challenge our data center is facing today is managing the complexities and growth of our converging virtualization platforms.

The next big thing for our business will be automation in the warehouse and business intelligence.

My favorite IBM product is a POWER8* server with Storwize* storage.

If I weren’t in IT, I’d like to be teaching at a college or university.

The trend affecting my work is cloud computing.

My favorite musical artist is Guns N’ Roses.

The best movie I’ve seen recently is “The Revenant.”

My guilty pleasure is a Jolly Rancher ice pop every night.

My favorite or most impacting book is “The Cathedral and the Bazaar” by Eric S. Raymond. It set the stage for current computing and development.

The superpower I wish I had is the ability to make time stand still so I could enjoy it a little more.

If money were no object, the one thing I’d purchase is a beach home on the North Shore of Hawaii.

The favorite part of my day is any time I can define a solution to a difficult problem.

The geekiest thing I’ve ever owned is an old IBM 7013-530. It allowed me to learn AIX* as well as heat my basement.

My favorite activity outside of work is bringing old motorcycles and tractors back to life.

I ended up in IT when I entered the Air Force at 19 as a computer and switching systems specialist.

My greatest mentor has been Robert Steele, a systems guru I worked with at the North American Aerospace Defense Command in the ’90s. He taught me the importance of learning the environment and not just the systems.
