Sponsored Advertising Content: Dusty Rivers, IBM Mainframe API Champion

Dusty Rivers is no novice to mainframes. In fact, he has over 40 years of experience in the field. His career started in 1977 as an application developer, a database administrator and then as a systems programmer for IBM’s IMS* and Db2*.

As a nine-time IBM Champion, Dusty has an in-depth understanding of how to modernize mainframe applications and frequently speaks at IBM events and user groups like SHARE. In his role as director of Z Systems for GT software, Dusty shares his expertise in API design, addressing the inherent challenges of integrating mainframe and distributed environments.

“GT Software provides technology that enables Z mainframe applications and transactions to be easily exposed as APIs without coding,” he says. “Powerful orchestration capabilities allow multiple transactions to be included into an intelligent API workflow that makes it much easier for web, mobile and other apps to consume.”

These capabilities dovetail well with IBM Z* client needs to leverage the functionality of core business systems running the mainframe, along with the business requirements for modern web and mobile apps that enhance customer experience and streamline operations.
