CICS and System Management

System management is essential to efficiently running modern SOA environments, and CICS system management is integral to CICS Transaction Server. CICS system management reduces the complexity of management of CICS systems by presenting them as a simple, integrated whole. CICS system management integrates all of the major CICS management functions into one interface and also cooperates with Tivoli* products to integrate management and automation of CICS with z/OS and the network. CICS Transaction Server for z/OS V3.2 continues the integration, simplification, monitoring and automation of CICS system management.

The modern intuitive interface has been enhanced for even greater usability. The business application scoping (BAS) administration views have been restructured for improved usability. The views have been divided into two groups: basic BAS, which emulates remote data objects and advanced BAS, which exploits the advanced features of CICS system management. It's now possible to completely configure the CICS System Manager using this interface, significantly accelerating exploitation of new functions and reducing the complexity of migration.

The installation of CICS system management is now integrated with the installation of CICS and has fewer steps in the installation and configuration process. CICS resource definitions for CICS system-management objects are now dynamically created during initialization, saving operations-management costs. Operations and system-management staff can immediately become more productive using the customizable Web User Interface starter views that are populated with information specific to the particular role played by the user.
