BCD Software Releases Version 7 of Presto

Montreal, QC – May 8 – BCD Software, a Fresche Solutions brand and an IBM i industry leader for 40 years, has announced the upcoming release of version 7 of Presto, the newest release of their rapid green screen and RPG application modernization tool. Presto’s new features include responsive mobile capabilities, a modern look and feel and a new API that provides users with full flexibility on how they approach green screen modernization.

Presto version 7 incorporates Bootstrap, an open source framework that enables the design of truly responsive web applications for mobile devices, through its visual editor. Web screens designed with Presto will now automatically adapt to the device they are accessed from. For instance, when users access Presto web pages from their smartphones, elements such as subfile columns are stacked while other elements such as images can be shrunk or hidden. This allows developers to more easily create modernized green screen applications tailored to any device by using the same underlying design effort.

This release includes a new skin that provides an updated look and feel to the modernized applications. It is completely customizable and includes larger input boxes and buttons, a modern, sleek font, and a cleaner layout.

A new API is also included that provides an option for advanced web developers to choose their framework of choice, such as AngularJS, to design screens. The Presto API gives them access to all the data from their green screen as JSON objects, and it also makes it possible to combine two green screens into a single web page.

Presto now includes predefined JavaScript snippets, while also allowing users to create their own. These can be dragged and dropped and inserted into various places in Presto.

Predefined snippets include code to support interdependent drop down boxes populated through SQL.
